Join the Library
Joining Gleadless Library is free and gives you access to thousands of books, regular activities and a friendly place to read, learn and meet others. Becoming a member only takes a few minutes.
How to Join
You can join in person at Gleadless Library or online through Sheffield Libraries.

Is membership free? Yes. Joining Gleadless Library is free, and borrowing books is free too. Some activities may have a small charge to cover materials, and there are charges for services such as printing and photocopying.
Can children join? Yes. Children are very welcome to become library members. A parent or guardian will need to be present when they join and provide the necessary information to register them.
What do I need to join? To join in person, you'll need proof of your name and address, such as a driving licence, passport or a recent utility bill or bank statement. If you're unsure what to bring, just ask a member of the team before you visit.
Can I join online? Yes. You can join online through Sheffield Libraries and then start using your membership at Gleadless Library. If you'd rather join in person, we'll be happy to help you at the library.
How many books can I borrow? Library members can borrow up to 15 books at a time. As part of the Sheffield Libraries network, you can borrow and return books at Gleadless Library and other participating Sheffield libraries. Loan periods and borrowing rules are set by Sheffield Libraries and may change from time to time.
